Camps

 Log Cabin Ranch is a 'Victorian Tourism Industry Council' Accredited camp site, located in the majestic Dandenong Ranges - only 50 minutes from Melbournes CBD.
Log Cabin Ranch has been in operation since 1978 and has for over 20 years been owned by the Haley Family, who are committed and passionate about providing an enjoyable camping experience to all types of School Camps and Group Accommodation Retreats.
Log Cabin Ranch's staff are happy to assist you with your planning and organisation to develop a tailored Camping program, appropriate and relevant for your specific needs.
A full timetabled program can be organised and presented prior to camp by our Log Cabin Ranch Camp Coordinator, who comes with 25+ years of teaching experience.                                                              
We are also available to discuss various off-site activities during your stay, local to the Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley.

​Suitability
Schools -
Log Cabin Ranch is most suitable for all ages, but in particular a Junior school students first camping experience. As well as retreat groups for Year 11 and Year 12 Secondary school students.
Local schools can lower their overall camp costs by having parents transport their child to and from camp.
One-night stay for Grade 2 students is popular, with Grade 1 students joining them the next day for a fun day at camp.   
As well as an overnight or multi-night Camping experience for Year Levels - Log Cabin Ranch also hosts one-day or overnight Production Rehearsals, Drama Groups Music Ensembles, Leadership Groups, specific Study Groups and more.

Group Accommodation Retreats - 
Log Cabin Ranch welcomes various other groups who wish to gather in a Camping and Group-Stay environment .
Log Cabin Ranch is highly suited to groups such as Church, Yoga and Meditation Retreats, Calisthenics and Dance Troops, Horticultural Groups, Walking/Cycling Clubs, Motorbike/Motoring Clubs, Arts & Craft Retreats, Corporate Team-Building Retreats and Family Gatherings/Reunions.

Catering
Log Cabin Ranch offers the choice of either Fully-Catered or Self-Catering options for both Camps and Group Accommodation Retreats, in our well-equipped and accredited camp kitchen.  
Special Dietary requirements can also be catered for. Please discuss your individual needs with our Log Cabin Ranch Camp Coordinator.               
                                                     
Minimum Numbers apply for Fully-Catered (40 guests) and Self-Catered (30 guests) Camps or Group Accommodation Retreats. 
Special arrangements for smaller groups can be arranged, where a minimum hire fee applies.

Bunkhouse Accommodation
The Log Cabin Ranch accommodates up to 70 guests, inclusive of leaders and teaching staff in our Bunkhouse Dormitory style Accommodation.
All accommodation and facilities are under the one roof, with the sleeping areas separated by a central Dining, Lounge and Kitchen area.
Two main sleeping dormitories boarder the central Dining/Kitchen space. Each sleeping between 18-20 guests. And each with their own main ablution areas.
With 6 other smaller "ensuite-rooms" sleeping between 4-10 guests, each with their own bathroom.
A large Conara Wood-Fire heats the dining room and main bunkrooms. ​The several ensuite-rooms are each individually heated. 
Students/Guests with Disabilities
Log Cabin Ranch is suitable for people with disabilities with flat entrances to buildings and separate disabled ablution facilities for both male and female campers. Please advise your Log Cabin Ranch Camp Coordinator of your requirements when inquiring.

Camp Safety
Log Cabin Ranch has a strict code of conduct for the safety and wellbeing of all group-retreat guests, campers and staff.
Log Cabin Ranch follows a rigorous assessment program by the QTF Victoria to be recognised as an Accredited Camp Site.
The camp is also regulated through the local Yarra Ranges council, on the essential services, health and safety conditions of the camp, which includes the hygiene and food handling on the premises. 
Staff are on-hand to explain the running and safety supervision of all activities.
At the beginning of each stay all leaders and children are briefed regarding the appropriate health and safety requirements whilst on the Log Cabin Ranch property.
Log Cabin Ranch has a current and up to date 'Emergency Response Plan' inclusive of fire safety and evacuation procedures.
The Log Cabin Ranch Bunkhouse is hardwired with a smoke alarm system via a fire safety control panel which is serviced regularly.  

School Camp Activities
Log Cabin Ranch has a variety of Camp Activities to choose from including
Low Ropes course and Mini Golf, with other activities set up on request to include Volleyball, Peddle Go Carts, Picture Trail, Table Tennis, Initiative Activities, Bush Cooking, Art and craft, Environmental Lookout, Sensory Trail and Soft-Target Archery.

5 minutes away - Townships of Monbulk, Monbulk Aquatic centre
10 minutes away - Grants Picnic Ground Bush trails
15 minutes away - Belgrave - Puffing Billy, Belgrave High Ropes Trees Adventure Park, Sherbrooke Forest, Arthur Tinsel Gardens, Burnham Beeches Piggery, Alfred Nicholas Gardens, Silvan Dam, Tessellar Tulip Farm.
25 minutes away - Lavender Farm, Ferntree Gully National Park with the 1000 steps, Townships of Sassafras & Olinda, Olinda Rhododendron Gardens, Olinda Outdoor playground, Macclesfield Trout Farm, Lilydale Lake walking trails.
30 minutes - Mt Dandenong Lookout, William Rickets Sanctuary, Healesville Sanctuary, Aura Vale Lake.
45 minutes - Wandin Water park, Healesville Sanctuary, Healesville township, Yarra Valley.
(Some School/Retreats may choose to visit one or more of these places on their way to and from Camp, to reduce Bus costs).   

Resident Animals, Local Birds + Wildlife
Log Cabin Ranch has many resident birds + animals including 'Reece' the Donkey,  ‘Walter’ the wandering Sheep, ‘Fern’ the Deer and various Peacocks, Pheasants & other small birds. All form part of the unique Log Cabin Ranch experience for guests to enjoy.
In the local Monbulk and Dandenong Ranges area, we are lucky to regularly spot numerous birds such as cockatoos, kookaburras, wedge tailed eagles, crimson rosella, king parrots, blue wrens, and lyre birds.
Native local animals also include kangaroos, echidnas, wombats, possums and sugar gliders, just to name a few!

​All Camps are encouraged to make an appointment time with the Camp Coordinator for a tour of Log Cabin Ranch, to discuss your individual needs and assess the suitability firsthand for your group.
Once a date is confirmed, a Booking Form and Hire Agreement with Conditions of Hire and Costings are emailed to the prospective Camping group.
Maps of the Log Cabin Ranch campsite, accommodation layout and a full list of what to bring is included with this information. Further correspondence will include discussion finetuning your program including dietary requirements guest numbers etc.
