The Log Cabin Ranch is an accredited camp site and has been in operation for over 20 years - run by The Haley Family. We are attuned to the needs of school groups and are happy to assist you with all your planning and organisation of suitable activities whilst on camp. We are also available to discuss possible off-site activities during your stay, and can link these to the Australian Curriculum outcomes for your program planning if necessary.
Suitability The Log Cabin Ranch is very suitable for all ages, but in particular, years three and four, as well as retreat groups for older secondary school students. The Log Cabin Ranch is also very suitable for musical production rehersals, music ensembles, language other than English (LOTE) study groups, Grade 5/6 Leadership camps, Year 11 and 12 orientation, band camps + more.
One local school has been visiting The Log Cabin Ranch for over 10 years with their junior school students. The year prep and year one students enjoy an end of year picnic day, whilst the grade two children stay on for an over night stay as a gradual introduction to their camping program.
The Log Cabin Ranch is located only 50 minutes out of the CBD, making it the perfect venue avoiding long bus travel. Therefore reducing the overall cost of your camp. The LCR is in easy reach for city schools to experience the local flora and fauna that the Dandenong Ranges has to offer.
Several local schools now take advantage of parents transporting their own children to camp, reducing the overall camp costs considerably, which may be of interest to your school.
Catering The Log Cabin Ranch offers the choice of either Full or Self-Catering options. Special Dietary requirements can also be catered for. Please advise Management of your individual needs.
Accommodation The Log Cabin Ranch can accommodate camps of up to 70 people, inclusive of leaders and teaching staff. Some of our past larger camps have preferred to split their group into two with a mid week change over, allowing for more manageable organisation and supervision. This may be an option for you!
Minimum Numbers for fully catered camps are 25 people and 20 for self catered. This allows for smaller schools to enjoy a camping experience.
Students with Disabilities The Log Cabin Ranch is suitable for people with disabilities with flat entrances to buildings and separate disabled ablution facilities for both male and female. Please advise Management on your requirements when inquiring.
Camp Safety Staff are on-hand to explain all running and supervision of activities. All staff and children are briefed on safety requirements at the beginning of each camp. The Log Cabin Ranch has an up to date fire plan, which is regularly reviewed by the local CFA, and the 'Bunkhouse' is hardwired with a smoke alarm system via a fire safety control panel.
